I've always loved vintage Volkswagens and art. One day while working on my VW Bus, I remembered a trip to NYC in the late 80's. During that trip I saw a Plymouth Neon parked in Brooklyn that was covered in chalkboard paint. The owner had let chalk on the windshield wiper and people would randomly write inspirational quotes on the car. Remembering that trip, I immediately realized my two passions were meant to be combined. I painted the bus with chalkboard paint and the rest is history.
The Chalk Bus soon became a favorite at events and charity functions. The lightbulb clicked on again and I decided to use the popularity of the Chalk Bus to raise funds for art classrooms in need. Since many teachers we know often buy their own supplemental supplies, why not help out. We are now on our way to becoming a 501c3 non-profit charity. Our plans are to retire and travel the country with the Chalk Bus.
March 2020 we we're on the way home from a youth sports charity event and had a fire. the Chalk Bus was gone, but not our dreams or passion. we set out on the search for a new Chalk Bus.
We finally found a bus we could afford in Chesapeake, VA. This one was a panel van. Now we have more room for art!
A little bit of cutting and a little bit of welding. Soon we will be back on the road. (Spring 2023)
This fall we begin work on the custom photobooth interior. We will be able to conduct event branding and sponsorship logos for any event corporate, public, or private.
